Is it safe for my pet to fly?

In today’s society we have become more and more dependant on our pets for company-especially with our aging population. Holidays and traveling are also a major part of our lives. It is important to realize that our pets can travel with us and will enjoy the experience. This applies to travel by road, sea and air.

Amazingly enough our pets adapt to air travel extremely well. Fortunately the airlines are governed by very strict standards which ensure that our pets are well catered for.

If a pet is to be transported by air then there are some basic things to remember:

            a)         Give the pet some “experience” in the container in which they are to be transported.
            b)         When “acclimatizing” your pet to the container provide them with some treats or rewards.
            c)         Make sure you are there to greet your pet as soon as they arrive at the destination.
