Exercise is a vital part of animal health. Cats and dogs are mammals and genetically mammals are programmed to exercise regularly in order to eat. Stalking, hunting and killing all require exercise and if a mammal is to survive it must eat. |

One of the tragedies of modern living is that we supply our pets with the food necessary for survival without them having to expend the required energy to get the food! Right throughout a pets life exercise is vital both for physical health and mental well-being. Consequently, there will be obvious problems if our pets are not exercised. This goes equally for cats and dogs. Obviously if our pets are not exercised they may and possibly will become overweight. With modern living “obesity” is a major problem with pets. In many cases obesity will lead to secondary problems such as diabetes, arthritis and heart disease. Also, our pets need to experience other environments apart from the home situation. Just like us they can become “stir crazy”. This can often lead to destructive and anti-social behaviour. In summary exercise is vital for to ensure a healthy pet.
